Hello,

I have a 1984 2.5 L omc.

I will be replacing my fuel pump this week and I have a couple of questions. My repair manual says to use O.M.C gasket sealing compound on both sides of the gasket. So is that the same as RTV blue or red? The manual also says to crank the engine over while holding the fuel pump until you feel a reduction in tension against the pump. Is that something that will be very obvious? From the fuel pump to the carburetor is a steel fuel line with flared ends. Is there any reason to replace that line while I have everything apart? Do they go bad. Do they clog up? Can I use steel brake line from an auto parts store?

Thank you

Ayuh,.... More like form-a-gasket #3,....

With the bolts loose, ya it oughta be obvious,....
With the arm on the backside of the cam, there's less tension on the bolts,....

Naw,.... They usually get bent or twisted at the ends where folks try to use 1 wrench, insteada 2 wrenches,...
'n, Yes, automotive brake line, 3/8",...

Ayuh,.... 1 lead to battery voltage, the other to the tiny terminal closest to the motor's block on the starter's solenoid,...
