I have a 1998 Bayliner Capri 1950CL. While sitting at the dock the boat does not gain any water. However when I take the boat out and use it for the day it takes on water. Any ideas where to start looking first?

my boat once had a leak in the rubber hose the takes exhaust and water from the riser to the outside stern drive.......also you would be surprised how much water can get in your boat just from spray when underway, especially on a windy day. alldoges suggestion is a good place to start.....

use a flashlight and look.... you need to be tied off to the trailer, motor running and you need to be in the bilge next to the motor. you may need to use your cellphone camera to get pics of where you cant fit your head.

It is going to take some looking, and is the only way to find. In most cases it will be in the exhaust side.

Is this a new to you boat and did this just start?
Have you done any maintenance this season?
Assuming you have and I/O, what motor and drive?
