Where does everyone here get their fuel for their boat, a regular gas station or do you get gas at the dock, or do get gas at a gas station and lug it to the dock?

I use the pump at my dock.

Re: GAS

Since I trailer I get mine from a regular gas station.
Much cheaper.

If I am out on the lake and find myself running low I will pull up to a dock station.

Re: GAS

Well since I trailer my boats all the time, I get mine at a gas station.
If I am traveling a distance, I try to run it low before I go to save on weight and then gas up when I get there.
Saves on wear and tear on the springs and such without the extra weight of 24+ gallons of gas back there.

Re: GAS

When we first bought the boat a couple of years ago I swore I was going to put it on the trailer and take it to the conv. store to fill up instead of paying those inflated marina prices. That happened about twice before I decided that it was easier to pony up the extra cash. I'm like electricity...I always take the path of least resistance. LF thinks I'm just energy challenged.

Re: GAS

LubeDude,

I am far from being rich, it's just alot more convienant to get it at the dock.

Plus I sold the trailer, so it would cost $125 just to get it to a gas station and back, plus the gas, every week!!

Maybe I shouldn't say anything yet, but I am in the process of negotiating a price on a 1997 26' SeaRay Sundowner.

I'll know on Saturday if I'm getting it or not.

Guy's,

I really wish I was as rich as you guy's are claiming.

I just make a living, but I do like my toy's, and usually I get what I want.

I just save up for everything I want.

Like the fuel, I have an account that I put $5/week into, just for the boat's fuel.

Only way I could afford it.

mellow,

Glad the iboats beauty queen on the back of your boat.

She'd sink mine if I put her in the back of the boat.

As a matter of fact, she'd sink my boat no matter where she was in my boat.

Re: GAS

I know this might not agree with all of you but at least look. Support your local Marina. I know it costs more for fuel...But. (depends on your marina) If you did not support them and they are gone next year would it effect your boating? No more biskits in the morning? No more coffee? No more bait, No more fishing information before you go catch the "Big One"? Support your local guys. They are just trying to make a living too.

The marine industry is seasonal.....Is yours?

Re: GAS

I usually fill my two 5 gallon cans when I fuel my pickup. When I need gas in my boat, I fuel it from the cans. I only have 18 gallons total capacity so that works for me. I may buy another 5 gallon can, but the two cans have always worked. I don't go that far from my dock. It would be inconvenient and out of my way to fuel at a marina, and maybe they need to make a buck, but that does not help me make ends meet. Let the big money folks support the marina, I'll save what green I have.

Re: GAS

I allways get it at the station...only got it once at the dock because someone else was paying. :D ($3.50/gallon) I'm excited because costco just opened up a gas station here that is allways about 15 cents cheaper than anyone else. I'll save hundreds this year....

Re: GAS

Always at the station with my 21 footer.
The boat isn't picky on its food! Cheap is best.

Now when I get my 26' flybridge going, that will be a different matter as I plan to leave it in the water during the summer. No doubt I will get dock gas then... (and a second mortgage to boot)
beauty of the 26 footer...I have lots of friends that like to fish, so I doubt I'll be paying full price for the gas. :p

H.

Re: GAS

Yep, I trailer and get gas at the cheapest station I can find along the way.

Once in a while, I will trailer from Savannah to Augusta to go on Thurman Lake. Augusta Gas is always cheaper than Savannah and I fill it up before I come home.
