A New York stockbroker got stuck in some bad traffic on the way home the other day.
He asked a cop on the beat, what was the holdup.
Cop says, "it's Hillary in her motorcade. She stopped and is threatening to douse herself in gasoline and set herself on fire. She's depressed because Bill's running around on her more than ever, Bush upstaged her in Iraq, she's flipped out about Gore. So we're taking up a collection for her."
The stockbroker asks the cop, "How much have you got so far?
The cop replies, "About four and a half gallons, but alot of folks are still siphoning!"

Re: Hillary bashing

Oh, and you forgot to mention that it is unpatriotic to say anything bad about George W. Bush...

Yet it is the height of humor to ridicule another public servant who was legitimately elected and doing her best to serve the interests of her constituents.

I have no problem with anyone rationally criticizing her specific political positions--nor should anyone have any problem with others doing the same to Bush--

But to say we can't criticize Bush without being unpatriotic and then to mindlessly bash their opponent is the epitome of hypocrisy.

But then again she is a woman, and giving women the right to vote was a big mistake anyway, right?

Bassy, the last thing I would want to do is put words in Plywoody's mouth, but I really think that his last line was tongue in cheek.

Plenty to feel sorry for him in the rest of his post though!

Re: Hillary bashing

Well, there must be some explaination for the incredible venom from the right directed at Hillary.

I mean it is a cottage industry on the right bashing Hillary, and many so-called authors seem to have made a living attacking her from every which way, mostly with completely unfounded speculation and fantasy.

She got elected with 70+ percent of the NY vote, she is an extraordinarily bright and articulate woman.

That seems to threaten the right, and the only thing I can come up with is that it is gender related--that the right really prefers women quiet and in the background.

And the bashing is virtually never about what she actually stands for politically, but simply lame personal attacks.

And I still think this is a fundamental hypocritical double standard at work. Attack Bush personally, which I wouldn't do in any event, and you will risk a thunderous round of retaliation, but attack Hillary, and that is somehow different, and that all politicians are targets...

It is a disgusting display from the right, but sadly not at all out of character.

Re: Hillary bashing

Plywoody, have you ever examined the characteristics and tactics of despots and dictators, in a society that did not have the depth of Liberty as America? I dare say that there is very little difference between the way they often started out and a Bill and Hillary, all of the Daschle's, et al, too.

If you can't look into the eyes of a Hillary and see the difference in the character between her and a Bush, then I think you are either a very poor judge of character or are totally blinded by your ideological penchant for having government be the end all do all in human affairs.

Also if you think that you can trust a person of poor character, regardless of their ideology, then once again I suspect that you are behind the ol' eight ball.

Re: Hillary bashing

In fact, along the lines of Character counts, here is a letter that I wrote to Senator Daschle after the incident contained therein. ( a C&P of my own work, I might add) :D

November 21, 2002

Dear Senator Daschle:

During your tenure as (illegitimate, by your way of measuring things) Senate Majority Leader and now Senate Minority Leader, I'm curious as to who you think you are convincing with your continuous lies and fabrications. Is it the stupidest end of the electorate scale or just the inattentive ones who just happen to hear an occasional bit or piece of your broadcasted statements. Maybe they represent the 'throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks' theory or possibly it's the 'tell a lie often enough and it becomes perceived as the truth' syndrome?

Either way if my daughter came home with a suitor, who so transparently exhibited the characteristics that you do in your public facade, he would summarily be shown the door. I really think that if you, an intelligent man, were to hear yourself, divorced from your agenda at almost any cost, you would definitely think that person was not of the character that is representative of what this nation stands for. And as such I can only conclude that that your motives are for power, not for the responsible governance of this nation. It's the old 'any means to achieve the end' morality. (or lack thereof)

Your recent statements regarding Rush Limbaugh and all of the Rush Limbaugh Wannabees are prime examples of your lies, distortions and prevarications that you must think someone is being convinced by. Or could it be that you are simply trying to set the stage to have them silenced. The fact of the matter is if it were not for them, all we would have to listen to would be the likes of you or a James Carville.

As to your comment about "politics having become entertainment", you should be awarded an Oscar for your performances.

Very Sincerely.
John B****

P.S. It's time to remove the title of Senate Majority Leader from your website :>}

Re: Hillary bashing

Always, it is vague general scuds lobbed in the direction of political enemies with nothing concrete in the charges whatsoever.

At least when I criticize Bush, I use specific examples of his bad policies, and state what is specifically wrong with them--There is an unlimited supply of examples, of course.

I don't lob charges that he has "bad character"--whatever that means, with no specifics.

Hello Plywoody.
There are 3 reasons why Hillary is attacked.
She is intelligent, strong and a woman.
The attacks say more about the attackers than about Hillary.
But not to worry. How many attackers do actually get up and vote?
You know I sometimes wonder how many of us man are married to these strong and intelligent women and how often we need to blow off some steam. And we were given the wonderful gifts of Hillary and this board. So we can blow of our steam.
Rolmops.

Re: Hillary bashing

I think you are right, rolmops.

There is something about a strong intelligent woman that somehow threatens these people.

And of course, too many people are making too much money off of bashing Hillary that it is not likely to stop anytime soon.

Anytime I see a new Hillary bashing book, I am reminded of the proverbial fool and his money, however, except Amazon always gets a cut, and that does bug me.
