Hello,

Can somebody tell me how much RPM's an OMC V6 4.3L should run at at full throttle.

I estimate the engine to be built around '88 / '89

At the moment she does max 4,000 rpm

Thank you

Should get about 4600-4700 rpm's but there are a lot of things that can hold that down, boat load, prop pitch, prop condition, ignition timing, fuel...trim.....

You might be a touch low on power. Start with a compression test and then do a tune up. OMC spec is 4200-4600

If all checks out on the engine, you could go with a prop 2" lower in pitch.

Hello,

Compression test has been done and there was nothing wrong there we were told.

A new prop was installed end last year in order to get a better hole shot for tubing/skiing but not
sure of the pitch. will go in the water and have a look. water still very cold here :)

Don't have the rpm's with previous prop as the boat/engine had all sorts of other problems
at the time. We have been taking care of those one by one during the winter season.

Finally we were able to run the boat for over one hour without any problems other then that
the belts are painting the top of the hood black still. guess we need to sand down the pullies
a bit more. Any easy way of removing this things? guess not.

We still have the old prop. Will put that one back and see what it does to the rpm's.

Yesterday we were also told to look at the exhaust flapper but can't find it. It seems that
the exhaust comes out of the outdrive.... is that possible or should I have a better look?
