Hi all, I am reassembling my 1976 Johnson 40 HP outboard and even with the hundreds of pictures I've taken before disassembling this engine I've come to an area that I can't seem to understand how it goes back together. And of course looking over all those pictures, I failed to get even one picture under this area so see how the spring works. The attached picture shows the main bolt assembly the goes through the support sides and there is a spring and lever plate it also goes through underneath. However I can't understand how the spring is attached underneath the front assembly. Does anybody have a similar setup or knows how this gets assembled and attached to the lever plate...? I took so many pictures of every little segment of this engine but not one underneath this bolt/spring/lever assembly... If anybody happens to have such a setup and can take a picture it would be tremendously appreciated. Or if anybody can explain how it works that would be great too... Thanks for any assistance... So much for my picture taking...SMH! :violin: :frusty:
