I have a Alpha I Gen II
I want to change the impeller and gaskets! The shop wants $120 w/out lower unit lube and $140 with. I have the Gear lubeso I would get the $120
I looked at parts and it seems about $55 for the kit plus I need some gasket lube and 2-4-C so im looking at maybe $65-$70
I am not a pro mechanic but I do well I think brakes,rotors,small carbs, tune ups. I have the manual and it shows step by step how to do it. Should I do this myself or take it in to the shop.

Which manual? If it's seloc or clymer, you don't have a manual! You will also need the alignment pins, but basically if you can do brakes and the like, this shouldn't be too hard....

Let us know on the manual and we can post up a link to the real thing if you need it....

That is not a manual! It's hand wipes, fire-starters or a kneeling pad, but NEVER a manual...

Download this -> https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...YWRiNy00ODUyLWFmNzgtMTBmMzhlNGY4Mzk3&hl=en_US

The seal installation tool comes with the impeller kit...
The part number of the alignment pins is in the proper manual... And use them... Plenty of people do it without them, and plenty of people are wrong... If you don't use them the plate, housing and gasket may not line up properly, leading to premature wear and/or overheating....
