Hi all,
I find a boat which claim its engine is "250HPx1 HP Johnson". I didn't find this engine in search johnson web-site. Whether it is old model engine or not? Is it difficult to purchase any parts for maintenance in future? I worry I get a great trouble if I buy this boat.
Can anyone advise me? Thanks.

Parts should be available, but I'm not sure how easy in Hong Kong. Regular maintenance parts should be no problem. Before buying, make sure the compression is good, gearlube is free of metal. I always ask for a ride before paying. No ride, no buy. Good luck.

That's not a valid Johnson model number. It is, instead, a description of what is powering the boat, meaning that the boat has 1 250 horsepower Johnson outboard as its power source.

In order to find out what year the motor is, you will need the actual model number from the engine's model and serial number plate.

Try asking the seller for that information.

From what I can find on the internet, Johnson made 250 horsepower outboards from 1991 through 2001, so the motor on the boat is probably from those years.
