Johnson 15 hp four stroke, need to get rid of the tiller handle

I have a 1996 Johnson 15 hp four stroke electic start long shaft. Trying to mount it as a kicker but the transom is so high I need to change the tiller and shift over to a control box. The motor is made by OMC and I'm wondering what I'll need to convert it over. There seems to be some confusion as to whether or not the parts are available. I really need some advice on how to make this work.
