Johnson/evinrude long shaft to short shaft

Hello fellow boaters. I have a 1993 johnson 200hp with a 20 inch shaft on a bass boat that is blown up and missing alot of parts. I recently bought a 2000 evinrude 225hp with a 30 inch shaft. Does anyone know if i can just swap the evinrude powerhead onto the johnson? It looks like theyre the same where they mate. I havent took either one apart yet so i dont know if the footprint is the same inside. Thanks in advance

You might check the powerhead base gasket on each. If they are the same, it likely will work. Also, the gearcase likely has the 2 piece driveshaft. The driveshafts can be swapped, although you may break the connector for the 2 pieces.

Gasket between powerhead and exhaust housing is the same for both motors.----Is the 225 a direct injected " ficht " motor ?------If it is I would do a very close inspection on it.-----Research history on the 225 ficht.-----You may not want that technology.
