I have a cast aluminum helm that the paint is blistering off with oxidation under the paint. Since the part is not seen, would I be just as well off cleaning the loose paint off and cleaning the oxidation off and leaving it bare? Maybe coat it with WD-40 to keep the moisture down? My trailer is aluminum and does not have excessive oxidation. From what I read on this site painting can be a process. In this case it does not have to look good.
