looking at this boat... Starcraft I think

So I called this guy checking into some brief details in this boat. I haven't had an aluminum boat yet but this looks neat and in good shape. Going to check it out in Friday. Looking for a fishing vessel for the lakes. Seems alright. Any thoughts? Any thing that jumps out at you?

That looks like a 18' Starcraft SS based on the consoles and hull. I would water test it...... great boats!

Uhhhhh the price is a bit on the high side but it depends on the year, maintenance and condition.

Starcraft supersport 18 check transom,stearing for good movement,floor for soft spots,try to look under carpet make sure it is not green pressure treated wood. then see if you can take it out on water for leak test.motor test if all this gets 90% id say price is fair. But I wouldnt pay 3k for boat I didn't drive. motors can seem to run great on muffs and not under power.

Good motor,If in good shape it should be worth more than $2000 that paint style on it I think is from mid 80's or newer. Looks alot like my 74 Starcraft Runabout. Check the decking and transom, and for anything obvious in the hull. That would be a good buy in the northwest if everything checks out.

thanks for the replies! I work nights but if i get a little extra time today after sleeping I might try and set up a sea trial for friday if its worth it in person. I have been a SC lurker for about a year now. The couple down the street has one too that might be an option. It hasn't moved for the last year I hate seeing lovely pieces of engineering and potential fun get wasted collecting inanimate objects such as extra coolers and such.

Starcraft Boats enjoy an almost cult-following maybe similar to Boston Whaler. If the boat/motor is in good overall running condition, you could buy it, enjoy it for 5 years and still sell it for about what you'd have in it. That's a good-looking boat!...maybe after a trial run down the river offer the guy $2500! Good Luck!

I like that rig, good motor and looks to be in pretty decent condition.

Maybe check compression on the motor for peace of mind, that's where a good part of the value is there. Transom may need to be inspected too, if it's been stored outdoors.

It's a 1979 motor without Tilt and trim.

Ask about the water pump and check the lower unit oil too. That was a good year for that motor

Well test drive it yesterday and drug it home. Made it legal today and with any luck ill get to take it out maybe Friday. Good looking fishing craft. I have ideas for things I want to modify but so far so good. I'll be sure to post up some pics after the splashdown cruise. Thanks again for the guidance into what seems to be a good investment into the future of boating for me.
