I have a 1967 Chrysler 45HP that leaks at the upper seal just below the water pump. I have noticed the shaft is peaned at that point and even with a new seal it is leaking while running. I was wondering if I can flip the drive shaft, re drill the impeller key hole and then replace the seal. This would put the score or pean above the lower unit. It appears that the drive shaft will work in either direction. Do you see any problems with this.

What do you have to lose? You can always flip it back if you run into problems.
