first post and have spent 2hrs looking at similar probs on search. bought 17ft boat recently with 93 model, sold new in 95 dt55 suzuki with remotes elptt.has had 2 carefull owners andin good nick.only used once last year and was serviced day before i bought it with plugs impeller etc. tried out once before long trip, found eng very smooth only tried to about half revs ,enough to get on lane,ok i thought. trip to western isles, with two up and good lot of kit little power avail,no desire to rev or get angry? went back ashore to take of extra kit and managed to just get on plane. still little power,if prop came out water in rough wouldnt even rev up.
when bought was told tacho didnt work.read handbook and figured rev restriction in place, carried on with trip ,did 200+ miles at slow pace. now bought w/shop man and started elimination.tested all plugs, coils, overheat stat, reset button, geartooth pick up coil all read ok by book. plgs in suzuki hbook say br8hs,and clymer b8hs,havve br8hs fitted.noticed pee hole cooling water had grit and kept cleaning to get much of a flow. noticed today when motor in bucket full disharge from front of lower casing. tried boat in sea today and situation worse. hardly rev at all. carbs were drained before long trip used app 5galls hour so dont think fuel starve likely. tok out temp sensor on head casing and broke it on removal, however dont think that was causing problem. overall engine has low use for age but with long gaps between.
any suggestions welcome. motor looks mechanically virgin ie untouched from new. hope this helps, regards neil

welcome to iBoats ;) ...... hey man you must try to type more clearly, not all of us understand cellphone lingo ....... you should only drain the carbs when you are at home where you are gonna store the boat, never drain the carbs and then tow the boat, it will damage the needles ....... anyway ... replace you fuel pump diaphram ......
