I have an 06. The s/n of the drive is OW915101. Ratio 2.20:1. My question is simple. Does it have U joints that need lubed, or are they lubed for life? The dealer says "some are and some aren't" I believe there is a deffinite way to know. I just don't have access to the service information. So....I'm asking for someone that knows. I see no reason the pull the drive if there is nothing to lube since gimple and splines can be lubed remotely. I will however pull the drive if there are U joints to lube.

Thanks in advance if someone knows.....

While I'm sure there is a serial number estimate of which B3's used sealed u-joints, I doubt there is an absolute way other than pulling the outdrive and checking for grease zerks. I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Pulling the drive to check the engine alignment is something that should be done yearly. If a mount comes loose or something moves, you really want to know about it before it completely destroys the coupler and you have to pull the engine to replace that $400 item.
It's also how you can tell if you are getting water in the bellows, before it becomes a huge problem by the ujoints, and gimbal bearing being in water and rusting all winter.
