Mercruiser Exhaust Shutter

Due to a noise that was detected while my 1992 Mercruiser 5.7 Alpha was running at idle, I removed the port side exhaust shutter that appears to be the older style of the two styles that were made by Mercruiser for this model, according to the manual. There was a distinct rattling sound that appeared to be coming from where the shutter is located, and would only be heard at idle. Here are some pictures of the shutter once it was removed. It looks like part # 99370A2 is what I need, please correct me if I'm wrong. I would assume that the other side is in a similar condition also, but there is no rattle noise so I may forgo replacing it. I'm trying to sell the boat this summer and needed to correct the rattling sound at the engine so someone would not think there is a significant problem in the engine itself. Here's a video link to the noise that was detected: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfB1ZGs8HqM

Thanks for the help.

Ok, so per achris, the newer two piece 807166A3 now applies. Why would they still make the older version that's available still in OEM and aftermarket? Also, when looking at people posting where these needed to be replaced, it seems that the two piece version (the one that I'm supposed to use now) are the ones that are splitting in half or in pieces out of the exhaust. Though mine had all of the rubber worn off, it was a solid single piece that didn't seem like it would break and potentially cause problems.

As a non-expert in this area, my guess is that the new version seals water off better then the old style. As you probably know water ingestion will kill the motor.

Many of your style have broke in two also. Like anything with a boat they all take checking

Ayuh,.... The next step in yer's failin' as they were, is the axle shifts, 'n the whole thing falls into the aluminum y-pipe, wearin' a hole through it, 'n sinkin' the boat,.....

I went with the upgraded ones,...
