I have a 2002 mercury 115 4 stroke EFI. I connected a malfunction indicator light to the motor. It found that the shift switch was bad (I have another post about trying to find a new one). I jumped the switch out to clear the code. Now the light comes on for about 4 sec. then goes off. According to the manuel, if every thing is normal the light should blink every 5 seconds. This happens even before the engin starts.
