In the market for a new portable outboard, would like to "Buy American", Where are the small Mercury outboards made?

Where are the Tohatsu & Nissan motors made?

I think the answer to both questions is Japan. All made by Tohatsu.

The greatest small portable outboard ever made was the family of JohnnyRude 3 to 4.5HP twins based on the original Johnny JW-10 of 1952. Were I in the market for a 30 to 40# outboard I would prefer one of those to anything being made now, with the possible exception of the small Lehr 4 stroke propane burner.
