Mounting Solenoid Under Cowling?

Hey Guys,

Im wondering if there would be any problems in mounting the starter solenoid under the cowling? My motor is a 1960 40hp Johnson Model RDS-22. There isn't a set spot for the solenoid but I'm wondering if I can use some free space under the cowling to mount the solenoid without encountering any problems? Thanks

Ther are a lot of engines that have the solenoid mounted to the block under the cowling, you shouldn't have any problems.

Just find a spot where no wires will get grounded out from motor vibration.
