1. what is that
2. how much of a PIA is it going to be to replace it
3. is it high pressure or gravity ? can I reattach with the little that is still there ?

help help...

You need accesss to the E clip and push it out to the rear. I have had to remove the steering cylinder on a few boats

22-18922 Conector shows as the brass one, guess the newer ones are plastic
This looks like the plastic one 861150A1 may supercede to 86162A3

When you say "took the drive off", did you remove the hinge pins, bellows and bell housing just to get the drive off? Or did you remove the drive from the bell housing, then start working on removing the bell housing?

took off the trim pistons.. took out the hing pins.. got all the bellows out..water line and didnt know about that one last tube and pulled it off and was
then like why is oil coming out of that hole.. and then saw the tube and was like f-bomb...
im in the middle of replacing the shift cable and the bellows...

so is that tube gravity fed ? looks like it is.. can you just get a small threaded coupler and screw in the chunk I have left and
place the other side in the tube ? just sow the the oil still flows ?

For what you have to go thru to remove it to put the fitting in, your better off to just replace it

With the brass you need the inside fitting , a nut is installed to tighten the tube in the housing, then a fitting is screwed on and the hose is attached with a clamp or a quick disconnect fitting. The plastic one works just a well and uses the E clip

Bummer. I broke the same plastic piece a couple years ago trying to pull the hose off of it. That stupid plastic crap is so easy to break and so hard to replace. Depending on how much room you have in your engine bay, you'll need to contort your body and reach your arm back there to pop out the e-clip. Use a thin screwdriver. Then the old part can be pulled out from the outside. That's the easy part. Now, have someone push and hold the new part in from the outside while you attempt to reinstall the e-clip. I hope you have long arms. Try and take pictures so you get a better idea what's in there. Buy a couple extra e-clips so if you drop one and can't find it you'll have spares. You can't use a magnet to temporarily hold the e-clip because it's stainless. If you can't reach it, you might have to lose and move the steering mechanism to give you more room. It's a real pita job all because of a plastic part that should have been metal. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Yep, I frequent Lake Wallenpaupack regularly. If you're not familiar with it, it can get quite busy on the weekends and especially the holidays. It's the complete opposite during the week. Quite beautiful.
If you go to the north end for the fireworks on the 4th, it's best to wait until the crowd disperses. You can get some real jerks speeding away in the dark after the celebration. I've had a few literally speed across my bow in the dark. Be careful.

Back on topic...I believe the part is called oil reservoir transom bulkhead fitting.
I don't know how some engineer could actually spec out such a part to be made of plastic. Puts you on a wrong turn tangent from an ordinary bellows job.
