Need Info On Marlin Ski Boat

Last summer I bought a 1983 Marlin ski boat that is in fair shape. <br />Here are the details.<br />Make – Marlin Rally<br /> Length – 16 1\2 feet <br />Beam – 6 1\2 feet<br />Powered by a 1984 140 hp Evenrude<br /><br />What I would like to know is some history on these boats, I have look on the internet with little luck. There is no nameplate on the boat other than the manufacture and the model number. I’m thinking of bring the boat back to like new condition and I guess I need some history on this make/ type of boat to help justify my decision. So if anybody has any info please reply.

I used to work at Marlin Boats in the 1987-1989 area.<br /><br />I can try and help... ? What do you need to know?<br /><br />That's a fairly tough little boat (well at least the one's I built)<br /><br />The most unusual thing about those boats was we used to sell some of those to the movie industry. They like to blow them up occasionally when making films. <br /><br />Let me know. I'm in the middle of my boat right now. I took a break to check the forums..<br /><br />H.

Thanks M – I take it that Matlin Boats have gone out of business or they do not service the smaller boat market any more. Where did they build there line of ski boats? Do you still see lots of these boat in use to day? What do you think my chances of finding a replacement windshield are? <br />Dave

Dave A: If you could post some info on the type of windshield you need (plexiglass or glass, metal frame or not ect.) the fine folks on the forum will see what we can do to help you find whatever resources you need to repair or replace it...
