Need some connector info...I hope!

I have a 1976 Johnson 40HP Seahorse Out Board 2 cycle engine 40E76R that I recently completely rebuilt top to bottom. After reading some of these newer posts, I was wondering if anybody knew where to get the wiring harness "Connectors" for this engine? I know what type wire to buy and the harness ends to the motor plugins as well (like the coils the switches and such). But where can you buy the actual factory circular connectors for it? The circular connector at the end of the harness that comes from the forward control section to the engine where that harness plugs into the motor harness inside the cowling. Where can you buy those two circular connectors? They are listed a NLA or obsolete, but somebody still makes them because there are a few places that makes the entire wiring harness for these OB's yet. Any ideas?

Can't help you on the NLA parts, but if you look in the "Top Secret File" at the top of the forum, there is a list of salvage yards there. Maybe one of them will have a complete harness that you could get.

No, my plug was actually black if I remember correctly now. I has seen after market harness manufactures that build to your requirements using the original circular connector so that they plug and play with the original section in your boat. So somebody has to still manufacture that plug yet. I just want to buy one for my own usage. I'll build my own harness. Fact is I did build my own harness, but used a very nice stainless steel cannon type plug with gold contacts. But if I sell that motor and boat, the next owner will have a problem with how it is wired up. I plan on keeping a schematic with it, but who knows what could happen down the road... So the original harness connector would solve that issue... It is presently wires with actually better components then the factory original.

Call cdielectronics.com. They used to build wiring harness and may know something.
