My 24v Evinrude trolling motor died a couple of weeks ago and I am determined to revive it. To that effect I picked up a used motor that I thought may work. It was billed as a 24v trolling motor but when I received it it has 4 wires coming from the motor (red, black, green, green/white) where as my straight 24v motor only has red, black, green. I think this motor was actually a 12/24 rather than a straight 24v. My question for you trolling motor mechanics out there can I wire this motor in and use it as a straight 24v? It obviously can run 24v but normally is switched between one or two 12v leads. I am thinking I can just connect one of the green leads rather than both to run it as straigh 24v. Any advice would be appreciated.
