Greetings,
Ol' Betty is being a bit troublesome after a long winter's nap. I tried to start her up today. Turns over nicely. However, she is not firing and starting. I checked for spark at the plugs, and, low and behold, there is no spark. This is where my level (or lack of) expertise stops. I have been told to check for power/spark at the coil. But, I'm not sure how to do that? Any suggestions/ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have been told this as well. What is it that I am checking? I pulled the cap off? However, I have to be honest.... I had no idea what I was looking at? What should I see? What should I look for if there is a problem? Should I just replace all this stuff? (Tune Up Kit) If so, what other things would I need to know to not screw it up?

Just try run some real sand paper between your points to clean em up. If she fires up you might want to replace them then. I usually replaced mine each season

If you look closely there will be a white coating on the points. Sanding them may get it started but they must be changed.

OK, after further review... Seems that I do not even have power to the coil? Now I'm really confused? Ignition switch? Brand new battery.

Check your cannon plug on the port side if the motor for a proper connection. Unplug, check for corrosion or any other damage and refit - tighten clamp - recheck for power at coil again
