Re: Oil mix ratio on 80hp sea horse v4?
Two cycle and four cycle motors are different types of engines. Four cycle motors like your car have permanent motor oil in the crankcase and valves to allow gasoline and air mix to be sucked into the cylinder, The valves close and the fuel ignited. So as the piston moves up and down, the four cycles are intake(piston moves down), compression (piston moves up), Ignition and power (piston moves down, and exhaust (piston moves up).
2 cycle motors allow gasoline and air mix, plus oil to move thru the crankcase and transfer to the top of the cylinder. Thus they have only 2 cycles. Power (piston moves down) and at the bottom of the down stroke, the fresh fuel mixture transfers to the top of the cylinder sweeping out the burnt gases, compression stroke compresses fuel mixture and oil in cylinder, while drawing in fresh fuel and oil into the crankcase. At the top of the stroke, the plug fires initiating the power stroke.
The number of cylinders is irrelevent to the type of motor.
That ought to confuse you, but it is correct.
