I don't need a shop manual, but some advice about a 15HP Chrysler-Montgomery wards-Sea King Outboard circa-70's. I used to race dirt bikes and know a thing or two about 2-strokes. Motor sat the last 5 years, am trying to ready it for the lake(hopefully). What do I need to check for safety, and any comments on the starting process; if it will start at all. Any info greatly appreciated, and if the motor is an anchor, I need to know that too!!

I would first try to start her, Randy. If she starts or tries to start, get a manual.

Replace the water pump impeller, overhaul the carb and fuel pump.

Good luck. :)

JB is correct. Even if the motor was free, get a manual. For the small cost you will have to pay you will have a reference, get it running and then sell if you want too. Good boating.

Re: Old Sea King by Monkey Ward

The gas line going to the engine was clogged. The plugs are tarnished(replaced), one thing I found odd on the old girl, is there is no air breather. The carb intake opens directly into the engine cover. Am I missing something?? Any ideas on flushing the tank line properly. I pushed in the pin, and pumped it up to get some fuel running through. I am in the dark until I find a manual. It is a 1980 model, stamped in the engine cover. Thanks to anyone who will listen. Out in the garage in Topeka..
