Hi, peeps! I have just aquired a boat and some other bits including the above mentioned engine. I have done extensive work with car engines so thought it would be no problem fixing the simple little Suzuki unit. The problem is it will not start. I am using an mixture ratio of 20:1 fuel is flowing into the carb which I have just striped, cleaned and rebuilt and I have a good spark. I cant think what else to try. HELP!!! There is no model number as far as I can tell but I think its circa 1980. I can take a pic if that helps. THX

Your fuel ratio should be 50:1, Hypnos. Try adding some fuel mix to a spray bottle and give a healthy shot down the carb throat. If you have spark and compression, it should fire. Could still be probs in the carb. Good luck!

THX for the advice. I flushed the tank and carb out with petrol and put a 50:1 2 stroke mix in. The engine now runs, if a little lumpy. I didn't realize that the ratio was so critical. THX again!

Glad it's up and running. Make sure you have the correct spark plug and gap also. But having a single cylinder run very smoothly (esp at idle) ain't easy! :D
