Too All:
Have another topic to discuss. On my boat with a 1970 40hp Johnson is a evinrude throttle controller. It has 3 buttons. 1 for forward, 1 for neutral, and 1 for reverse. Are you actually suppose to push these buttons down before moving between each position. Example: If I'm in neutral, do I push the reverse button to move to reverse or Do these buttons move up and down when you move the control arm back and forth. Maybe a stupid question but I have been pushing the buttons before performing and action with the arm.
Appreciate your time
Steve
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

You have to press the buttons. Do this while you're idling, changing gear with to much throttle will break the drive spring in the gearcase.
