Ok don't know if I should start a new thread, but it is part of my rebuild. Took the boat out today, and started the break in process. Fast idle for ten minutes, and no issues. Next 50 minutes varying rpms not exceeding 3500. Up to 2500 rpms no issue, after 2500 it felt like the motor was spinning but I wasn't going anywhere. I had a hard time getting the motor to line up on the net drive spindle, then it plopped on. In thinking either the motor is not down all the way, or having the motor sitting on the spindle for those couple minutes, I broke something. But why would it work low rpms? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions.

The engine is down tight, no doubt about it. I found out two more things. First one when I went to check the jet drive oil, when I unscrewed the yellow cap, I heard pop and about a cup of drive oil came flying out. I removed a little more to get it to a normal level. Second my boat has the performance upgrade to the jet drive. It has a different grate, a spacer and a drive shaft extension. The drive shaft extension was not fixed in place, and looked like it could move back and forth 3/8". I shimmed it in place using stainless steel washers, and tighten the set screw that holds it in place. Im not sure if either of these two are the problems, but they cant be helping.

Ok took it out again, maybe I fixed it or maybe there wasnt an issue at all and I jumped the gun. Warmed it up then tried to get it on plane, took a couple seconds but did climb on plane. Once planed up it felt like she had alot more to go, but I have to keep it 3500 rpms or less. It wont stay on plane at 3,500 its like bulldozing through the water. But have to stick to the breakin in schedule. Thanks everyone. All issues resolved......knock on wood
