A friend just bought a 87 capri with a 3.0 omc cobra. like my 88. He went to change the oil in the drive, he drained it and can not get the vent plug out. So he filled it with one quart from the bottom and plugged it. Then put the rest in from the dipstick hole. I have always filled mine from the bottom and then from the vent and check the dip stick. Will this cause problems for him? If so what should he do? He said he ran it for a min. Checked the oil it was good. Ran again for 2 min checked and was good. Is he good to go?

Thanks,
Bob

You are lucky you must fill center to make sure oil gets to all gears with no air pockets.
