I have a skeeter bass boat with a 150 h/p marine on th back. I also have a jack plate on it .Just bought the boat and got in runing . But i idle at 10-12 psi water pressure. when accelerating foward the water pressue will drop slightly when you let off it will raise , when the boat is on the pad it backs off to 6 psi and according to were it is trimmed will not run over 10 psi when turning it will run 6 psi .. the motor is 3 " above the bottom of the boat measuring by the cavitation plate. the boat transom is 22-23" from bolt hole to bottom.. the motor is 18-19 from top bolt hole to cavitaion plate .. i cant drop the motor any motor because the controls hit the transom.. whats the cure?.

I don't know what your water press. should be, but I'd think as long as you had pressure, you'd be o-k. If in doubt, run it a little while, stop and feel engine to see how warm it is. Should be 140 or so.

c/6

Hooty

The boat has apparently been set up to run with a cupped or "chopper" prop for maximum speed. Keep an eye on pressures and temps.....this boat runs with top part of the prop actually out of the water at speed. Lowering the motor will require reproping because the one that you have will have much to much pitch...Loss of performance will be considerable if you drop the motor and do not reprop. Lower water pressure is common for this type setup

3 inches up is not uncommon at all. I run my 200 on the Hydrostream much higher than that and have 30 lbs of pressure. Look at the basics. Put in a new pump kit (not just the impeller), make sure the thermoststs are in place and the pop off valve is in place and working.

Good luck!
