so I got a used South Bay 22".. I guess the last guy had someone put a car head unit in it. Volume is broke so I wanted to replace it with another head unit I have from another boat.. it has the standard plug on the back, like most marine radios. Problem is that the Clarion that is in this now has some double plug layout and I guess he had someone install some adaptor harness that comes off the boat plug and splits into two plugs for the clarion.

So I guess my question is, are most boats setup for the plug that goes direct into the radio ? double row 16 wire.. or are some setup with some strange plug that you always need some adaptor harness ? Trying to see if I need to cut the main plug and wire up some new end.. or buy some wire harness..

I was trying to upload an image of what I'm talking about but kept getting error..

there is no "standard" plug on the back of marine radios. the plug is radio brand/model specific. it varies from radio brand to radio brand

cut off the old plug, wire in the new plug

I would assume there must be adaptors for South Bay to Alpine.. and Cruchfield..Sony etc.. anyone know somewhere that sells them... I did some google searches but I must not be using the proper words since I cant find some..

Forest River is the manufacturer of your pontoon. their contracted wiring house probably made the adapter cable.

take the adapter cable, and the pigtail from your new radio and wire it yourself

there is no "easy quick option"
