Trying to remove the Power Trim and Tilt unit to remove trim motor stator which is corroded. Have a Yam service manual. Step 10 is remove stud bolt. This is the large bolt across the bottom end of the trim unit--threaded on both ends--approximately 3/4" X 8". Of course there is corrosion between bolt and clamp bracket that the bolt goes through. Have tried PB Blaster, some heat, fairly aggressive hammer blows--no bolt movement yet. Does anyone have suggestions based on your past experience with removing this bolt? Thanks for any responses!

I had the same problem with my C40tlrx, but when I pulled the top pin the unit swung out far enough to reach the bolts holding the stator onto the pump and I could remove them with out a problem, I still have not been able to remove the stud you are talking about, but Rodbolt mentioned using bleach water to help remove aluminum corrosion

Re: PTT removal on Yam 50TLBR

Thanks 99yam40. I removed the top pin and you are right the PTT unit will lean out just enough to get the stator screws out. My Yam dealer had told me the motor would have to come off the boat--and it would be very expensive to do that job. With money as tight as it is these days I had to find a cheaper way to do this. Thanks again for your suggestion!!
