Bought a nice scotty depthmaster electric downrigger for the ss160 starcraft..Due to the design of the boat theres no options for mounting normally so im going with the tried and true wood plank across the back and then mount the swivel base on it .So the question is 2x6? or 1x6? Pine, maple ,oak or hemlock?

Aluminum can be cut with a skill saw or jig saw they even sell blades for it if you cut a lot of it. You can router and sand edges as well.
