Hi everyone, I purchased a Sierra 18-7289 fuel pump to replace OEM 982997 (1988 4.3 OMC Cobra) however the new pump inlet and outlet are not in the same location. Otherwise seems like the right pump. Are these pumps clockable? Old pump is a Carter 0-2208.

Found Sierra's online catalog and looks like they offer two fuel line hoses (18-8114 & 18-8115) to replace the factory hard lines. Their configuration looks to solve the inlet/outlet orientation issue, as well as eliminate the factory elbow npt fittings on the pump. I can fab up my own hard or soft lines, or back to my original question, possibly re-clock the pump. Is this typical, or is there a direct fit pump I'm missing?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... I can't really answer yer question, other than re-clockin' a fuel pump is hit, or miss, that ya never know til ya take it apart, hopefully, without tearin' a gasket,....

If they've developed a work-around, I'm guessin' that's the Best route,....

Late follow up here but in case anyone ends up in the same situation I successfully reclocked the fuel pump. Since the inlet and outlet had to be clocked as an assembly, I oriented the outlet as per the factory pump, which left the inlet slightly off. Sorted this by massaging the fuel line with a hand bender. Works great!
