HI All

I am about to remove a CAM shaft from my Mercruiser 4.3 v6 1998, I have already removed the heads and the drive chain and sprockets before I step into the unknown could anyone please advise me on this task ?:)

I also I have a second question it is possible to set the valve clearances on this design as I have cam lifters and push rods there doesn't seem to be a way to set any type of clearance or is the clearance just set on a torque setting ? or is it to do with the tension on the spring inside the lifter?? any help on this would be much appreciated :)

Do you have the genuine Merc factory manual? All the answers to your questions are answered in the manual...

Chris.......
BTW, for the right manual, we need engine serial number. 1998 was a 'cross-over' year for the manuals, so to get the right one....

Interesting... You have a 1998 engine, but it fits in the 93-97 serial number range for the manual... :noidea:

HERE is the manual... D/L and Ctrl-S

When you're looking in the manual, your engine is a 'Gen +'...
