Can anyone recommend a good Boat Engine repair place in or around Newnan, GA.? I've been struggling with a problem for over a year and I'm throwing in the towel. I hate to take it to anyone, but if someone can recommend a place, I will consider it.

Late last summer, I ran the boat all day and it ran flawlessly, when I approached the dock to take it off the lake, it wouldn't idle. Eventually, it wouldn't even turn over, so I thought I had a battery problem. It was not the battery. Stumped in Newnan.

It's probably going to be hard to duplicate out of the water. Is it bad for the motor to run a long time with rabbit ears attached to the outdrive? That's the only way I'll be able to try and duplicate it out of the water.

You shouldn't have a problem running it on the muffs as long as you have good enough water flow, keep an eye on your temps.

What lead you to think it was a battery problem, I am assuming you kept trying to restart it and ran the battery down? And then tried with a new battery and determined it wasn't the battery?

I am originally from just across the river from you, Whitesburg but have never dealt with any of the marine mechanics in that area. Either worked on them on my own or at my dads shop.

With a good battery would the engine turn over?

Just be sure to keep the rpm's down below 1500 when using the muffs.
