Have a 2001 Merc, 50 hp, 3 cyl no start. No spark on any cylinder. Checked key, emerg stop switch, even unplugged boat harness completely, still nothing. Stator, trigger, flywheel magnets all test good.
Found that once I unplugged blk/yel wire coming out of Rev limiter box had great spark plug back in lose all cylinders. Has anyone run into this with a rev limiter? Tested all wires coming out of limiter to found or to each other test ok but could be in box itself.
So why have a rev limiter when I always thought you adjusted W.O.T with prop pitch. Limiters are $175.00 why not just leave unplugged as long as I prop for around 5500 rpm??
Anyone ever hear of such a problem and can I just leave limiter unplugged.
