I rebuilt my engine last month and have run double oil for the last 6 hours. Engie gets up to 50 mph at 6 grand. My first question is if you punch the throttle fast the engine will stall as soon as you pop it into gear. If you do it slow it gets the engine on plane and you are moving. Why is it dying if I hit it fast because hitting the throttle slow does not shut it down? Thanks I have built several omc's but this yamaha is a smooth running engine at high speed like a sewing machine.

Re: Rodbolt, questions about my 92 130

Rodbolt will probably give you a more definitive answer but is sounds like you are running lean on the idle circuit (and midrange circuit if there is one). The engine which is too lean at idle cannot handle the influx of air on a fast throttle up and dies before there is enough airflow to start the main circuits. By throttling up slower, you give the engine more time to switch over from the too lean idle circuit to the main circuit and it will run fine once the rpms climb up a bit. Try enrichening the idle circuit a bit. If that doesn't work, perhaps the carbs need a cleaning/rebuild.

hello
yep
jimd has a lot of info. also check the fuel pump
mercs and yammis are ver sensitive to weak fuel pumps that cannot keep the fuel bowl full after idling.
seems after idling a bit when yan nail it it will pick up a bit then fall flat.
check the pump then the carbs
good luck and keep posting
