In quite a few posts in here, there is a reference to a product called SeaFoam. Is that an American name brand of carb cleaner or just a slang name for another product?

Re: Sea Foam

It was not made for OMC.

It was developed privately, then later it was endorsed by Evinrude.

From the Seafoam site:

""Evinrude Outboard Motor Co. heard about Sea Foam and tested it for a full year and endorsed it nationally.""

We have Napa up here in Canada over yonder past those few igloos so I will try there and see if they carry it here. Thanks for the feedback:)

Re: Sea Foam

Probably same carbon cleaners & inhibitors with different fancy names, Sea Foam is mixed with gasoline inside tanks, Engine Tuner is sprayed with engine on to clean, remove carbon deposits inside engine, mainly piston rings, exhausts. Must be used at each 100 worked hours if boaters don't regularly use Sea Foam or non at all.

Happy Boating

Google: Marine Fuel Additives for lots of info...MSDS is a Material Safety Data Sheet will give most ingredients for various products. Most are naphtha, stoddard solvent(thinner),amines, alcohol, a few others. Sea Foam has been around a long time and is pretty well accepted as a fuel stabilizer and to prevent/remove carbon deposits...Good Luck!:)

Re: Sea Foam

You can find seafoam just about anywhere. Even at your local gas station. The key is to find it at the right price. Around here I see it anywhere from $6 - $11/can. Anytime I can get a good price I load up on the stuff. Been using it for yeas. I use it in every thing I have that has a piston(s)...... :)

Seafoam is regularly about $48 a gallon at Fleet Farm, goes on sale for about $44 a gallon once or twice a year.

We don't have any Fleet Farms in Fl, but I know who you're talking about. Been there.

+1. Seafoam is a good thing. Sure, it'll make your old motor smoke like crazy for a bit, but it should be much happier afterwards. I even use it in my old Ranger pick up truck with good effect. Just warn the neighbors so they don't think you're house is on fire!
