The yacht is only for enjoy the sea, not for fishing/wakeboard....

Please advise which points I need to concern ?
Which band of engine is good and which is not good ?
What is the price about this?
Please advise.

Hi tengirl, welcome to iboats!!

When you say yacht do you mean a sailing boat? I get the impression you mean a cruiser.

Up to 12 people hey, well you are going to need more than 7 metres, probably 8m minimum (26 ft)even then it'll be a squeeze, I think closer to 10 metres might do the trick depending on the design and layout.

I don't know your local regulations but most countries put a body limit depending on the size of the boat (its a safety thing). You will need to chose a boat that can legally carry 12 people. Then you have to factor into your sums the cost of mooring because you probably won't be trailering a 30+ footer.

The price will depend on how old you wish to buy remembering that the older you buy the more you will need to spend renovating.

Aldo

Tengirl, welcome to iboats.

There are different types of boats around. You said that outboard is OK but there again the size of engine will have to considered. The more people you put onboard a boat the bigger the engine horsepower needed to power the boat. As for the size of the boat, the best thing you can do is go to a boat dealer and find out (look for yourself) what size is comfortable for you.

Price is a major consideration too.

Hi All,
I am happy that so many people in here to help me. There is an example I search on the web. I haven't contact the dealer and I haven't test the boat before. I want to have well perpation before test the boat. Of course, it may be sold. It may be one of my favorites.

Most engine band name is mercury/volve...
I am not sure OMC is good or not. The price is reasonable or not.

http://www.boatandboating.com/home/boat.asp?boatID=119

Re: second hand boat advise

I believe Sea Swirl is a good brand of boat but the OMC drive may be a concern, someone else here may be able to more accuratly advise you about the drive. OMC is the leg, the bit that hangs out the back. The motor is a V8 GM. Volvo, OMC and Mercruiser all use the same V8 motors (basically).

It is rated to carry 10 people. You won't get 12 people onto a 25ft boat, it's simply to small & it would be illegal. You may need to look for a bigger boat or trim your list of friends ;) .

HK$150,000 - what's the conversion from HK$ to U.S.$?

Aldo

10 people is enough. I don't expect I have so much friend interest in it.

HK$15000 = US$15000/7.8 = US$1923

Do you means OMC is not good ?

Re: second hand boat advise

Its not a issue if OMC is good or bad, but OMC are no longer in business It may be difficult to get parts for the drive leg ( thats the part out the back of the boat). It may even be harder to get parts in Hong Kong. Mercruiser and Volvo are about the only 2 choices still manufacturing Sterndrives both are good products. Its more important that the boat you decide to buy has enough power. To carry about 10 friends you need a boat 25-27 feet and a V-8 engine capable of producing 260hp or more.
