Re: Seloc manual

If you read the posts here for a while you will note that most all people here feel that an aftermarket manual such as Seloc is of very little value and can often contain erroneous information.

If all you want is "owners manual" information it would be better than nothing. If your intent is to educate yourself about actual repairs a opposed to seasonal maintenance I would certainly suggest that you get the genuine manufacturers manual instead.

Have you had a chance to thumb through a Seloc manual for your motor?

Re: Seloc manual

I bought a Seloc manual for my 89 35hp Merc. I think it cost me $20 plus shipping. Took a look at the Selos and bought myself a real Mercury service manual. I think that one cost something like $85. Then I sold the boat and because I'm such a swell guy (or not to bright) I let the manual(s) go with the boat. Now I have a 75hp merc. This time I'll save myself the $20 + shipping and just buy the factory manual to begin with.

What they said. I use my SELOC Manual to level my workbench with the missing coaster.

You guys crack me up.. Leveling a table with a Seloc manual. What a waste.. Mines in the boat all the time, I don't always carry toilet paper and sometimes you just gotta go.. It's nice to know that Seloc manual is always there if I need it.

Re: Seloc manual

Are the Seloc manuals the best source for the do it your self person?

All the above is true, but for some of the Mercury motors it's about all that's available. I have a '70 model 75 7.5 HP thunderbolt outboard and so far seloc is all I could find for it. And that is fairly worthless. If you can get a factory manual that is specific to your year/motor grab in.
