Should I Buy 2002 Merc 60hp 4-stroke?

A friend of mine is selling a boat with a Merc 2002 60hp 4-stroke.

Any advice concerning the reliability of this engine? I am not sure of the reliability of Merc 4-stroke back then. This engine aleady has a rough idle so it will need service.

Any input would be appreciated.
