First off, here is a picture of my transom.

resize.jpg

It`s a three step design, the red line is about 13" The left side is about 5" in from the next step, the right side is about 1" in. The whole mounting area is less than an inch high because it is curved. Would there be anything wrong mounting them on the next step up? It`s about a 1" step out. I would think it may not do much at WOT, but it should work ok for getting on plain and slower speeds. This boat has no real handling issues yet and I have had it above 65. I miss my Smart tabs allready. I wouldn`t mind trying out the new plastic ones.

That sounds like a question for John, but I would think you need a flat surface to mount on for proper support of the hinge.

It appears there would be no vertical clearance for the actuator if mounted that far forward.

Well, I just got off the phone with John and it looks like we figured something out with the new plastic ones. I probably won`t get them till sometime in the next week or so but I will give a complete report with pictures when I get them on.
