these Smart Tabs is this a brand, what variables are involved, and is something that can be ordered and a dummy who can read can install. I am really new to this whole big engine bass boat thing and appreciate your input.

Re: Smart Tabs

if you follow the instructions they are a piece of cake. I installed both of mine in under an hour, and that was even measuring and remeasuring multiple times to make sure I got it just right.

make sure you have all the straps that are normally on your trailer in place before you begin to make sure you dont have an issue with where the straps fall o the transom interupting the installation. if you do, you will have to adjust either the straps or the tab placement a bit

Re: Smart Tabs

Yes, Smart Tabs are pretty simple and are quite beneficial to the boating experience. I don't know about using them with larger boats (as I don't have the experience in this area) but I would recommend them for almost any boat under 22 feet.

Re: Smart Tabs

How's come they look so angular and funny LubeDude? Mine (still in the box) are rectangular not trapizoidal.

Re: Smart Tabs

Boomyal: I think that's because LubeDude's tabs are Mobster Tabs, to fit on an angled transom, whereas yours are probably regular Smart Tabs for a flat transom.

Txswinner: Be assured that the Smart Tabs can be installed by almost anyone (even a complete novice like myself), and work really well once properly adjusted.

Re: Smart Tabs

Do smart tabs help keep the boat level if there is more weight on one side of the boat than the other? I'm having a problem where if it's just me or me and my GF, at speed my boat wants to drop hard to my side.

Yes they do, not as much as adjustable tabs would though on a larger boat. With the boat in the picture, the boat rides flat if Im by myself, or with a partner. If the partner is as big as me, it will list a little to the passenger side if im going slow, but I have my trolling batteries on that side, so I think that is the reason. Whole bunch better than it was without the tabs.

Very cool, guess I'll be saving up for some as well. If they're easily adjustable then because my load can only change about 1 of 3 or 4 ways I could have settings for each situation. Very cool, sure beats a sandbag on the passenger side! Thanks and sorry if this thread got hi-jacked because of me, just wanted to add this to the mix as well.

Re: Smart Tabs

save up the chee$e and geta set... i did, and i AM and WAS very skeptic, thats just how i am.

i can whine and complain all i want , but the point remains, that the smart tabs on my 20 foot center console make my boat plane at 2800 rpms. that is EXCELLENT for a 4000 pound boat. and its a comp-letely flat plane, not a half plow action. no more plowing. my boat is level when i take off and level when i slow back down.

i only wish i would a invented them....hhmmppfff
