Starting Force 120 HP Problems

From the beginning, I replaced the battery and had the starter replaced. The problem is that the outboard barely cranks but fires almost before it seems like the battery is drained. I leave it running for awhile, and it fires up ok. I drive 1 hr to the lake and it barely fires. I leave it running the entire day. If I shut it off, it won't even fire for 1 hour. Then like magic, it fires with full power. Very strange. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks. The year of the motor is a 95 (yr) 120 Force. Mark4192@charter.net <br />

Sounds like the battery cables. Bring a set of jumper cables with you, when it does it jump directly to the starter from the battery.

And after trying to start it for a while, physically feel each component (cables, starter, solenoid ect) until you find one hotter than the rest. And replace that component. It is bad. The smaller the area carrying the current load, the hotter it will be. I suspect you'll find a bad cable connection or solenoid.
