Steering notchy after putting it back together

Ok I took apart the steering at the console a few months ago to replace guages wiring and switches. After putting it back together last weekend I noticed that the steering does work but seems more notchy than what I remember. There's not much to it so I'm surprised anything is different. I did regrease it, anybody have thoughts on that.

Ayuh,... Disconnect the motor end, 'n see how it feels...

the feeling is definately from the steering wheel end. It kinda feels like the gears aren't quite close enough I can't imagine I put it back together wrong but it was apart for quite awhile. Two boxes geared cable ends, 8 nuts and bolts, 3 brackets and the steering wheel gear. I didn't mark which cable end was what but it does turn the right direction.
