Pruchased a new Starcraft 178 Fishmaster this past September.

The dealer took my '99 Yamaha F100 off my old rig (another Startcraft) and installed it on the new boat.

Here's the problem: Trailering the boat home, the motor would not stay centered, instead it kept flopping to the side (I use a transom saver).

Then when I took it for a ride before storing for the season, I noticed the steering is much, much looser than it was on the old rig.... to the point that it pulls to the side if I was to let go of the wheel.

How do I go about tightening the steering down so this does not occur?

"Old" steering was standard Teleflex rack & pinion, installed new in '99.

Yoopster,

There may be a tension adjustment on the steering head.

The engine "pulling" can be corrected by an adjustment of the trim tab.

I lash the steering wheel, while trailering, to something in the boat so that it remains straight.

OK, what am I looking for when it comes to the tension adjuster?
