Thank you to all those who have replied and helped my get my boat up and running. I have to topics about what i though may have been a carburation or ignition problem. Turns out it was neither of them. He is the short version of it. I re-powered my boat and went from a 302 to a 350. The dam thing would shoot back up through the carb. I first thought its a "lean pop" after pulling the plugs and seeing she was running rich I turned to timing and ignition. well after chasing my tail. I got pissed and was on my way to buy a whole new distributor.....well turned out I needed nothing. when I put the new engine I put a new cap and rotor. well; the package had a correct cap but the rotor was for a 6 cylinder. I am so pist at west marine. I will be going and talking to a store manager tom. I purchased the quicksilver cap and rotor combo. The package had the wrong rotor in it (only had 6 notches instead of 8). Again Thank you to all those who have helped me through my issues.

Glad you found your problem.:)

Don't be to hard on Tom, receiving the wrong size/type rotor is a very common mistake no matter where you go to buy this type of rotor and is easy to mix up if your not paying attention or "know" to count the notches for the number of cylinders that your working on before letting the rotor leave the store.;) Just be sure he and the crew knows for the next time.;) Good luck.:)
