I am replacing the stator on my 87 Johnson 150 GT. What sort of thread loc is best for the flywheel nut? I am thinking of med. loc-tight.

Any suggestions and thanks.

Re: Thread loc for flywheel bolt

On some late (to me) motors, they say to use OMC Gasket Sealing Compound on the nut (threads only). The flywheel and crankshaft tapers must be clean and dry and the nut properly torqued to specs with a torque wrench. That's really all that's necessary.

Never allow any Loc-tite to wick down into the tapers or you may never get the flywheel back off again.
